History was made March 19, 2022 when Jada Davis became the first Black woman ever crowned Miss Milwaukee.
The 23-year-old is a Milwaukee resident currently attending Marquette University Law School to pursue her Juris Doctorate. She is also a dancer, choreographer and entrepreneur. She is the founder and CEO of JMO Dance & Choreo, Lavish Brows and Modern Movement Apparel.
The Miss Milwaukee Competition was only Davis’ second time competing in pageantry. She was among eight candidates in the first-ever all-virtual Miss Milwaukee Competition, which dates back to 1924.
“I’m excited to see the impact this will have on other young Black women who want to try something new, who want to get active in their communities and who needed to see someone in a leadership position such as this that looks like them,” Davis says.

Along with the title, Davis was awarded a $700 scholarship. For her talent, she performed a contemporary fusion dance to “Dear Black Girl” by Candace Nicholas, winning her the top talent award and an additional $100 scholarship.
As Miss Milwaukee, Davis will continue to promote her personal social impact initiative – “What’s Wrong With Being Confident?” – which focuses on building self-confidence and positive body image among youth.
“It’s not so much about the title for me, it’s about the impact that I can make and the connections,” Davis says.
Self-named “The Dancing Lawyer,” she plans to fulfill her career goal of proving arts and education can co-exist by practicing as an entertainment lawyer after graduating from Marquette next year.
Davis will advance to the Miss Wisconsin competition in Oshkosh this June, a state preliminary to the Miss America competition.
