The Third Ward’s new Fauntleroy (316 N. Milwaukee St.) kicks off its lunch hours this week, beginning Tuesday Oct. 16.
The restaurant that moved into the old Coquette Cafe in late July will offer a mix of casual and fancier lunch fare. Appetizers include crab salad with avocado, scallop chip and cucumber; foie gras torchon with brioche and preserves; moules (mussels) in white wine sauce with house-made baguette; French onion soup; and a Lyonnaise salad with pork belly and egg ($5-$16).
Among the five sandwiches is steak tartare with chicken skin, egg yolk and rye bread; mushroom crepes with a Mornay sauce; a croque madame; and the Grande Royale with Cheese, the Big Mac-like burger shown in the above photo ($12-$17). Sandwiches come with frites or a petite salad.
Entrees are available, too, namely a half-chicken with spicy greens and broccoli; steak frites; trout Veronique (with grapes, pickled beech mushrooms and chive) and a nicoise salad ($18-$25).
Lunch hours: Tuesday-Friday 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
