This Bites: Pies, Steaks and More

It’s This Bites, Pie Edition 2020. Tarik Moody and I dive into some stories running in the February issue of Milwaukee Magazine. With Valentine’s Day coming up this Friday, Feb. 14, I offer tips for where to get flaky pastries for your significant other or just for yourself. These include places to visit for a slice or hand pie. 


During this season of cold, snowy weather, you might be carb-loading for comfort. Or just carb-loading for the sake of carb-loading. The former Blue Jacket/Drink Wisconsinbly in Walker’s Point is going through a carb makeover to become the bagel shop/restaurant called Allie Boy’s Bagelry and Luncheonette. The bagels will come with fresh toppings like cream cheese and smoked fish. Hear more about that.

You’d be right to think of intimate dining at The Dark Room, the hidden steakhouse at the Saint Kate Hotel. It seats 26 and has a “secret” entrance near the hotel’s champagne bar Giggly. I talk about the a la carte menu and what I like about it on our segment.
