Miss Cupcake wishes you a delicious day. I appreciate that. Miss Cupcake is the alter ego of Ashley Weber, a local baker who came to my attention a few years ago when covering the Iron Cupcake Milwaukee events. Ms. Weber has more on her plate than cupcakes. Frosting On the Cake

She is the force behind Miss Cupcake Boutique Bakery (3801 N. Oakland Ave), which is targeted for an early summer opening. The corner spot in Shorewood will carry up to six flavors of classic cupcakes (also mini cupcakes, cake truffles and cake pops). If you’re not so sweet on cupcakes, Weber will also have cookies, scones, brownies, pies and breakfast pastries. Miss Cupcake’s design scheme is Hollywood glamour, which seems fitting for a little store that also sells old-fashioned bulk candy. Mmm.

Stout But Not Short
Are Craft Beer Weeks taking over the world? Latetly, it sure seems like it. Not that I’m complaining. From the beer dinner department comes Honeypie’s stout dinner with Michigan’s Dark House Brewing Co. The five-course spread includes bone marrow with cranberry and crusty sourdough (paired with Oatmeal Stout); oysters three ways (with Cream Stout); and cured smoked beef loin with celery root risotto (with Smoke Stout). Date: May 29. $70 per person. Make your reservation soon; the dinner is limited to 55 people. (2643 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., 414-489-7437)
