By the time the Green Bay Packers take the field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday at Lambeau, thousands of people will have descended upon the otherwise sleepy city in anxious anticipation of another Packers win. But none will have arrived there quite as uniquely as one Milwaukee DJ.
94.5 Lake FM’s J. Pat Miller is making the four-day, 112-mile trek from Milwaukee to Green Bay by foot. The plan is to raise money via donations for Aurora Family Services “Family to Family” Thanksgiving program, which provides Thanksgiving dinners for families in need. Each day will take him closer to Title Town and yesterday he walked from Milwaukee to Fredonia. Today’s plan is to make Elkhart Lake followed by Forest Junction on Thursday and finally Green Bay on Friday.
Day one is in the books and raised nearly $3,500, enough to feed 98 families. And I must say, watching the live feed of J. Pat walking down Wisconsin’s back roads is strangely hypnotic and addicting. Plus after the sun goes down and the headlights come on, it looks an awful lot like the video for “Karma Police” by Radiohead, which is nice!
