  • Coffee? It’s what’s for every meal. It could be. In the world of restaurants, bad coffee just doesn’t fly anymore. According to eater.com, restaurants are “stepping up their game” when it comes to coffee. I say it’s about time.

  • The government shutdown is over. Which means federal employees can go back to work. Which also means our assistant editor Abby Callard can stop turning off NPR when shutdown news comes on the radio.

  • Nothing like a bizarre rant to start the morning. As you’ll see in this video, a Capitol Hill stenographer went a little nutso during the government shutdown vote. After ranting about God and the Freemasons, she was escorted off the floor by security.
  • Want to see a photo of Albert Einstein’s brain? It’ll go great with your breakfast. So the man who came up with the quantum theory of light likely had a different brain from yours (and mine, too).

  • Do you believe in the existence of the yeti (a.k.a., Bigfoot)? Who doesn’t, right? Scientists say this big walking ball of fur (presuming it’s real) descended from ancient polar bears.

Ann Christenson has covered dining for Milwaukee Magazine since 1997. She was raised on a diet of casseroles that started with a pound of ground beef and a can of Campbell's soup. Feel free to share any casserole recipes with her.
