Downtown building boom, the North Korean threat and the state of the city

Good morning, and welcome to Day 45 of the Trump presidency.

The Journal Sentinel had this from Tom Daykin on Sunday about the impressive construction boom Downtown. (Also see this and this from recent years in MilMag.)

The New York Times reported Sunday on North Korea’s progress on developing nuclear weapons it could potentially fire at the United States, and the problem it poses for President Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, Washington is obsessed with another tweet from Trump, in which he’s accusing President Barack Obama (citing no evidence) with wiretapping him at Trump Tower last year.

Last week’s New Yorker has this interesting piece providing context for what it calls the “new cold war” between the U.S. and Russia.

And local television is reporting the charging of a fifth-grade teacher accused of having sexual contact with an 11-year-old student.

Finally, as I’m writing this, Mayor Tom Barrett is delivering his annual state of the city address.
