Morning Links is full of true-life stories. Things we cannot make up. Things we wouldn’t want to make up:

  • A recent study in Neurology suggests that being bilingual has benefits beyond utility. It could delay the onset of dementia. Time to sign up for that Spanish class?

  • Swaddling is a new parent’s best friend. Wrap that infant up like a burrito. But wait… swaddled babies might be at greater risk for hip dysplasia.

  • OK, let’s fan the flames on that silly talk about bringing back Brett Favre to the Green Bay Packers field now that Aaron Rodgers has a broken collarbone. As one writer so colorfully (and ridiculously?) puts it: “Let’s bring this gunslinger back for one last rodeo.” Oh, geez.

  • Apparently the Food and Drug Administration no longer wants trans fats to enter your body. And it’s taking steps to stop the rancorous curs from being in our food.

  • Funny. I know someone who perks up at the words “Chick-fil-A.” But things are not all hunky-dory in the quest for a chicken sandwich. A shooting at Jacksonville, Florida Chick-fil-A was caused by a woman who cut in the drive-thru line.

Ann Christenson has covered dining for Milwaukee Magazine since 1997. She was raised on a diet of casseroles that started with a pound of ground beef and a can of Campbell's soup. Feel free to share any casserole recipes with her.
