Yo, Third Time’s a Charm
This is a day that calls for exclamation points. Cold, overcast, scattered flurries. But not too cold for some jimmy-, gummy-, fruit-topped YoMama! Yeah! In a month, the local purveyor of frozen yogurt will open its third location – a doozy, too. Next to Indulgence Chocolatiers and across the street from North Star American Bistro. If you know the Tosa or Brookfield Mamas, you’re familiar with the drill. It’s self-serve. You fill a dish (available in three sizes) with yogurt (flavors vary), load with as many as 35 toppings, weigh it, and pay for it. Done, done. If the yo is too cold for you, there’s also hot chocolate, coffee and assorted Simma’s baked goods. The Shorewood store is scheduled to open on Feb. 28. tore hours: Mon-Sat 11 a.m.–10 p.m.; Sun 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. (4521 N. Oakland Ave.)

Collective Effort
The ladies who run Kasana Group (241 N. Broadway) in the Third Ward do catering, operate a shared commercial kitchen, and have a couple of special-event areas. (Their five-course special Valentine’s Day dinner will include a tango show.) Their Kasana Cafe and Bistro — the space is decorated with tall turquiose candle holders, Papasan chairs and white umbrellas — officially open, serving tasty empanadas, Spanish tortilla, salads, a couple of sandwiches, and soups. Hours: Tues 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; Wed 8 a.m.-8 p.m.; Thurs-Fri 8 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sat 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday (5-8 p.m.) is Rodizio di Pizza, featuring a special pizza menu. Brunch service may begin this spring.
