13 Things to Do in Milwaukee This Weekend: Dec. 13-15

Santa’s Christmas Cavalcade, Zawadi Day, Hmong New Year and more are happening!

1. Haunted Holidays Tours at The Rave/Eagles Club

ALL WEEKEND | THE RAVE/EAGLES CLUB

This self-guided journey through the historic Rave/Eagles Club makes for a festive and frightening night. Explore the inner workings of the space, like the haunted pool. Each attendee gets their choice of a festive drink with their ticket. Get tickets here

2. World’s Tallest Glass Tree

ALL WEEKEND | 373 W GENEVA ST., WILLIAMS BAY

This is the last weekend to see the World’s Tallest Glass Tree in Williams Bay. There will also be an art fair, including handmade glassware. On Sunday, Dec. 15 at 4 p.m., the installation will be completed with a blow glass star topper. Find more information here.

3. Golden Girls Holiday Special at La Cage

ALL WEEKEND | LA CAGE

This is the final weekend to catch this dinner and drag show at La Cage. Enjoy cocktails and dinner (or lunch, for the matinee) ahead of the show, and then watch the Golden Girls perform. (Note: The event will be on the second floor of La Cage, which is only accessible via stairs.) Get tickets and read more here

4. Animal Encounters at Discovery World

ALL WEEKEND FROM 11-11:30 A.M. | DISCOVERY WORLD

Things are getting wild at Discovery World this weekend. Wild animals, that is. Meet turtles and snakes, and explore the Great Lake Future exhibit. No additional ticket beyond admission is required. 

5. Santa’s Christmas Cavalcade

FRIDAY FROM 5-7:30 P.M. | DOWNTOWN MILWAUKEE

Santa and Mrs. Claus will ride through Downtown Milwaukee on a vintage fire truck while local singer/songwriter Sarah Fierek sings holiday tunes. It leaves from the Milwaukee Public Market and will travel east on Wisconsin Avenue toward the lakefront, passing Pere Maquette Park, Cathedral Square, Zeidler Union Square, Catalano Square and the Hoan Bridge. The Hunger Task Force will be accepting donations from attendees before the trip departs the Market at 5:15 p.m.

6. The Fitzgeralds 150th Birthday

FRIDAY AT 6:30 P.M. | THE FITZGERALD

The Fitzgerald celebrates its 150th anniversary this Friday, and Pabst Theater Group is throwing a party to celebrate. The band Whole Yachta Love will perform yacht rock hits from the ’70s and ’80s throughout the event, and yacht rock attire is encouraged. There will be an open bar and appetizers included with a ticket. Get tickets here

7. Charlie Brown Tree Lot

SATURDAY FROM 10 A.M.-2 P.M. | CORNER OF ST. PAUL AVENUE AND BROADWAY

This is the last day to check out the Charlie Brown tree lot at Milwaukee Public Market. From “Charlie Brown” trees to fully grown trees ranging from 4 to 10 feet, there will be lots of trees to peruse. 

8. Zawadi Day

SATURDAY FROM 10 A.M.-2 P.M. | WISCONSIN BLACK HISTORICAL SOCIETY

This family pre-Kwanzaa event features gift making, African dance and drumming, a writing workshop and a Kwanzaa class. Get tickets here.

9. Milwaukee Hmong New Year

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY | WISCONSIN STATE FAIR EXPOSITION CENTER

The largest Hmong New Year celebration in Wisconsin is happening this weekend and is open to all. There will be over 100 vendors, Chinese lion dancers, a beauty contest and more. Food and drink vendors will be selling everything from boba drinks to bubble waffle ice cream. Learn more here.

10. Bronzeville Center For The Arts Holiday Shop

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY | GALLERY 507 SHOP

The newly built Gallery 507 is a holiday shop is open! Artists from all over the world have contributed works to the shop, making for a diverse selection of Christmas gifts to shop this weekend.

11. Holidays on the Hop

SUNDAY FROM 3-5 P.M. | THE HOP

Savor the last performance of Holidays on the Hop on Sunday. The JL Russel Jazz Trio will play live music and folks on board will get free holiday cookies. 

12. Milwaukee Zappafest

SATURDAY AT 8 P.M. | SHANK HALL

Shank Hall is hosting Zappafest this Saturday. Paying tribute to Frank Zappa and his music is Ray White from Frank Zappa’s band along with local band Gozortenplat. Doors open at 7 p.m. Get tickets here.

13. Girls Rock MKE: Joyfest

SUNDAY FROM NOON-8 P.M. | X-RAY ARCADE

Girls Rock MKE is throwing a one-day event with live music and a workshop focused on inspiring new musicians. There will be a workshop with Planned Parenthood and a workshop on open mics with The Audacity. See the lineup of performances here
