On New Year’s Day, few follow the call to rise early and do 50 jumping jacks, followed by downing a bottle of green juice. And restaurants certainly have other ideas. Case in point: The Vanguard (2659 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.). The Bay View bar-restaurant’s cure for New Year’s Eve indulgences is ramen, served 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on New Year’s Day. The menu features four kinds of ramen: beef broth (with pork belly, Brussel sprouts, fried garlic, pickled bok choy and slow egg), duck broth (Nashville Hot Chicken, chili miso, grilled scallion and soy deviled egg), miso (fried tofu, mushroom, nori, grilled scallion, pickled bok choy) and spicy pork mazeman (with cracklin, scallion, pork sausage crumbles, chili and pork demi). And the Green Bay Packers-Detroit Lions game, kicking off at noon, will be shown on the telly.
