The Third Ward’s Dandan Restaurant to Host Plate Collective Dinner On Sept. 18

The dinner combines the tactile beauty of handmade dishes and the cooking skills of six gifted chefs.

It’s the return of the intimate,  Plate Collective dinner, a collaboration between Milwaukee potter Kate Riley and a talented crew of local chefs. The collective has held dinners at venues such as Goodkind and Hinterland. Next month’s five-course dinner (on Sunday, Sept. 18) is at the Third Ward’s new Dandan Restaurant (117 N. Jefferson St.), co-owned by chef Dan Jacobs (who is also Riley’s spouse).

Riley creates dishes geared specifically for each course of the meal. The ceramic mugs for the cocktail/amuse course are a take-home piece for each diner. Read more about Kate and her work in this article, “Presentation Is Everything,” from our May 2013 issue.

Five chefs will join Jacobs in preparing the Plate Collective meal. They are: Dan Van Rite (Jacobs’ partner at Dandan), Shay Linkus (Vanguard), Aaron Patin (Iron Grate BBQ), Jonny Hunter (Madison’s Underground Food Collective) and Jorge Guzman (the Minneapolis-based Brewers Table at Surly Brewing Company). The cost per person is $150 (including tax and gratuity).

Cocktail hour at 6 p.m.; dinner at 7 p.m.
