The month of May just keeps getting better. Here’s why: almost every weekday this month a local restaurant is offering a $10 soul food special. The Soul Food Tour MKE, presented by the Black Chamber of Commerce and FM radio station Jammin’ 98.3, is the name of this very welcome dining initiative.
Here’s what to look for this week. On Wednesday, May 8, it’s one piece of fish, two wings and a side from Ruby J’s Café (4734 W. Lisbon Ave.) The special runs from noon-3 p.m. (or as long as the supply lasts). On Thursday, May 9, head to Jericho’s BBQ at its new brick-and-mortar (1814 N. Farwell Ave.) for sliced brisket with sides. The offer runs from noon until they sell out.
To come in the weeks ahead are specials from Big Daddy’s BBQ and Soul Food, Quick Bite, Top Corned Beef, Warren’s Lounge, Crave BBQ and Sherman Park Grocery Store (featuring Betty Jean Soul Food Deli. Keep checking the website, as more specials may be added.
