Red Light Ramen to Close July 13 | Milwaukee Magazine

Red Light Ramen Is Closing Next Week

Get your fix before the restaurant’s last day of operation on July 13.

Red Light Ramen by Ardent (1749 N. Farwell Ave.) is preparing to close its doors after service on July 13. The dining establishment, which started as a weekend popup back in late 2013 inside fine dining restaurant Ardent, announced the news on its social media platforms shortly before the Fourth of July holiday.

Here is the closing announcement.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

As for the future of ramen, “For now [Red Light] will be gone,” says owner/chef Justin Carlisle “We hope to do pop ups and there is interest for individuals to take it to other cities. But we have nothing set as of now and are just going to enjoy the last week and see what happens next.”

Carlisle expanded Red Light’s menu offerings when it got its own digs – next to Ardent – in 2016. The menu includes three kinds of ramen – tonkotsu, chicken paitan and mushroom miso ($16-$17 – as well as Japanese beef curry ($19). Small plates (seafood tins, takoyaki waffle, $8-$15) and a couple of desserts ($9) round out the food menu. Sake, wine, boozy slushies and beer to drink, if you want something alcoholic. Mexican soda and tea, if you don’t.

Hours through July 13: daily 5-10 p.m.

Carlisle is also part of the team behind 1033, which opened in the location – 1033 S. First St. – that formerly housed another Carlisle project, Laughing Taco.
