Rumors are swirling about Pabst Brewing Company returning some of its operations to Milwaukee as soon as next summer.
The company, which has gone through several ownership changes since leaving Milwaukee in 1996, completed its most recent sale to Blue Ribbon Intermediate Holdings (“a partnership between American beer entrepreneur Eugene Kashper and San Francisco-based TSG Consumer Partners LLC”) last November.
In January, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that new Pabst owner Eugene Kashper was “scouting locations” in Milwaukee to bring the brewery back to the city where it was founded. Kashper’s visit reportedly included stops at the former Pabst complex in Downtown Milwaukee.

The microbrewery will produce a few thousand barrels of beer per year. For comparison, @lakefront (in 2014) brewed 40k barrels per year.
