Milwaukee Artist You Should Know: Abby Jeanne

Allow us to introduce you to this globe-trotting Milwaukee-born musician.

LIKE SHE SINGS  in her single “That’s Where We Are,” Abby Jeanne has had to embrace the “winds of change.” The Milwaukee-born musician has moved to New York, performed in London and even signed with a synth and soul record label. We sat down with the artist to talk about her new 7-inch vinyl record “Know Better,” which dropped earlier this spring. – ERIN WOLF

Tell us about the making of “Know Better.” 

[At first] it was too pretty. It was kind of disco, and I was like, “That’s not something I want to do.” Then it just got really gritty, and I was like, “Yeah, this is what I do.”  

How did Milwaukee help shape your career? 

Hi-Fi [Cafe] is always going to be a huge part of my life because it was such an influence on me – and [my] music and art as well. … Art was all around me all the time – and records, too. That was really kind of essential to my being.
