The Riverwest club joins the many paying tribute to the late Prince Rogers Nelson.
People all over the world have been paying tribute to Prince Rogers Nelson since his April 21 death at his Paisley Park home in Minneapolis, and a popular Milwaukee club will be hosting a tribute next week.
Mad Planet hosts a Friday Retro Night Dance Party every week, and recently hosted a Prince vs. Michael Jackson dance party, so naturally, the Riverwest venue will host an event memorializing The Purple One. The event, “When Doves Cry: A Tribute to Prince,” is set for Thursday, April 28, and is hosted by DJs Frank Straka and Kid Millions (who also hosted April 16 dance party).
The event’s Facebook page reads:
Few musicians have ever existed who have had more of an impact on popular music than Prince and few have ever reached the iconic status that he had. For decades his music has influenced generations. Please join us Thursday, April 28 as we celebrate and pay tribute to the legend known as PRINCE.
The cover for the event is $5.
Other local tributes have come from dozens of local musicians (see those compiled by RadioMilwaukee) and at General Mitchell International Airport, where the county joined many cities around the world lighting the sky purple.
