Lupi & Iris Owner Will Open a Second Downtown Restaurant

Lupi & Iris Owner Will Open a Second Downtown Restaurant

The theme will be “New York-style Italian.”

Adam Siegel is a busy man. The owner of 3-year-old Lupi & Iris – the upper-echelon dining destination in the 7Seventy7 building (777 N. Van Buren St.) – is working on a second restaurant.

Like Lupi & Iris, the new dining establishment will be centered in the East Town section of Downtown – in this case, Northwestern Mutual’s North Building (818 E. Mason St.). That building is undergoing a $500 million renovation, so it’s going to be a bit of a wait for this one. The restaurant, which will occupy the North Building’s first floor, is projected to open in late 2026.

The theme is “New York-style Italian” in a “relaxed, yet still refined” experience, according to the press release. Siegel’s partner on the project is his wife Daria Aitken-Siegel, a floral designer who trained at NYC’s Parsons School of Design. There’s no name publicly attached to the restaurant yet, but its design will be in the hands of Eppstein Uhen Architects. Additional details are still to come.

Siegel is also known for his 21-year tenure with The Bartolotta Restaurants, during which time (2008) he earned a James Beard Foundation Award. After leaving the company in 2021, he opened Lupi & Iris, whose cuisine celebrates the coastal cooking traditions of the Italian and French rivieras.
