June 20: Radio Free Honduras

Join us in Cathedral Square Park this Thursday, June 20 from 5 to 9 p.m. for another round of Jazz in the Park, this time with Honduran virtuoso Charlie Baran and his band Radio Free Honduras.

Baran started his musical career in his home country of Honduras where his was a founding member of the group Banda Blanca, who’s song “Sopa de Caracol” became the #1 Billboard Top Latin Songs hit in 1992. Baran currently lives in Chicago and performs with a diverse collection of musicians united under one goal — supporting Baran’s artistry and bringing his tremendous talent into the spotlight where it belongs.

Radio Free Honduras offers some of Chicago’s best musicians, lively percussion, eclectic instrumentation and rich harmonies, providing an excellent backdrop for Baran’s guitar work and original songs. Watch the video below to see this group’s infectious energy in action.
