Palmquist Farm says festive outdoor fun in two words: sleigh rides. Once the snow flies at this farm and resort about an hour’s drive northwest of Wausau, the cozy experience begins – for groups in a larger horse-drawn sled or private rides on a smaller sleigh.
After a 30- to 45-minute ride dashing through the snowy farm woods, it’s off to the warming lodge for hot chocolate and cider. “Our Christmas winter season is very much like a Hallmark movie winter wonderland,” Anna Palmquist says of the farm that’s been in her family since 1906. “We go all out with swag [greenery] everywhere.”
