Cafe Benelux to Close for Short Renovation

But they’ll return with an exciting new menu addition!

The Lowlands Group–parent company of the Café Hollanders, among other local restos–has announced renovation plans for its nearly 6-year-old Café Benelux (346 N. Broadway, Third Ward). The changes mean Benelux will close March 5-17. Reno work includes floor refinishing, expanded seating and a redesigned bar to increase the draft lines (from 30 to 36) and to add a nitro line.

For diners, there’s bigger news–an updated brunch menu that features Liège-style waffles. If you’ve been to farmers markets including the winter one at the Mitchell Park Domes, you may have run across Press Waffles, whose raison d’etre is this very style of waffle, whose key ingredient is Belgian pearl sugar, which caramelizes the exterior and adds a pleasing crunch.

Benelux will reopen on Friday, March 17 for its regular service hours of breakfast, lunch and dinner.
