Milwaukee Brewers All-Star closer Devin Williams is expanding his talents after making a trip to the J. Leinenkugel’s Barrel Yard at American Family Field to begin production on Airbender Ale, the first player-brewed beer at the onsite working brewery.
Williams partnered with pilot brewer Corrine Georges to learn about the science of brewing and begin production on the blonde ale. Williams submitted his “wish list” for style, taste, appearance and aroma to Georges, and together they began the on-site production phase.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!
Donning steal toed boots and safety glasses, Williams was put to work pouring hops, separating hop matter from protein, shoveling spent grain and transferring it over to the fermenter, appropriately called “pitching yeast.”
“It was a fun experience to work with Corrine to get Airbender Ale started,” Williams said. “Brewing is such a science and having the chance to learn more about it and participate in the creation was pretty memorable. I’m most excited to see how it turns out and how it’ll taste.”
The beer will take about four weeks to produce, and it will only be available for limited-release at J. Leinenkugel’s Barrel Yard.

In his fifth season with the Brewers, Williams is known for his signature “airbender” pitch.
The working brewery at American Family Field opened earlier this season in the spot overlooking left field that was previously Restaurant to Be Named Later and Friday’s Front Row Sports Grill.
Specialty beer is brewed on-site by the brewers of Molson Coors’ Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. There’s also a full-service bar and restaurant.
