A Huge South Side Restaurant Event for Frugal Diners Starts Sept. 30

Fifty-two restaurants are participating in this year’s event, which runs through Oct. 7.

Feeling extra hungry? North Shore Bank’s South Side Dining Week is extra packed with possibilities. The event – Sept. 30-Oct. 7 – is returning for a third year, with more participating restaurants than ever before. Each of the 52 restaurants on the docket will offer a special menu item for $15 or less.

Restaurants – and their featured dish – include AsianRican Foods (arroz chino bori, which is Chinese fried rice, and chicken pinchos, or skewers), Black Sheep (goat cheese risotto), Braise (steamed pork buns), Cielito Lindo (huevos rancheros), Crafty Cow (fried onion butter burger), Modern Maki Sushi (Hot Flamin Burrito), Old Town Serbian (burek), Ruta’s Fresh Indian Fare (chicken tikka rice bowl), The Bridgewater Modern Grill (artichoke dip), Transfer Pizza (The Da Vinci pizza) and Vientiane Noodle Shop (chicken pad thai).


It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

 

Zócalo Food Park (636 S. Sixth St.) is hosting a kickoff event on Sept. 30, 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Food and bevs will be available at all the food trucks stationed there. Beyond consumables, the happening will have family-friendly activities, live performances by local artists and both a free yoga class and free dance class.

On the last day, Oct. 7, Mitchell Street Arts (MiSA) will host Hand Pie Fest, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Hand pies offered here range from pierogis to Cornish pasties to Indian samosas to empanadas. Entry to this even is $25 and gets you hand pies from four of the participating vendors like AsianRican Foods, Old Town Serbian, Ruta’s Fresh Indian Fare, Hot Dish Pantry, Cocina Filipina, Modern Maki and La Casa de Alberto. MiSA is located at 710 W. Mitchell St.
