A Sketchy Evening at Dandy Is Like Art Class for Adults

We tried the cozy art evening – here’s how it went.

“DRAW! A Sketchy Evening at Dandyis kind of like a school art class, in that everyone works on a project around a central theme. Except here, you get to drink and chat with your friends. I recently made my way to the vintage store/event space on Vliet to check it out. Each event is hosted by a local artist who shares a little about their work and picks the prompt for the evening.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

This evening, it is Sheboygan-based artist XO Fiss (aka Xoe Fiss), and the prompt is to draw a pennant for a place or memory that brings you joy. Fiss sets a fun, positive tone. When we all share at the end – yes, that’s part of it – I am overwhelmed by how many different ways people brought the prompt to life. From fiber arts to rubber stamps to markers, every creation is unique and is met with a grand applause from the group … even my Barbie Dream pennant. I’ve already bought tickets ($5) to go back again on Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. Get tickets on Eventbrite
