Show of the Week: Meat Loaf at the Riverside.

Monday, August 20: Dikes Of Holland and Fox Face at Quarter’s Rock N’ Roll Palace –
(900 E. Center St.)

Also: Starring and Guardian Alien at Cactus Club, 9 p.m. – (2496 S. Wentworth Ave., CactusClubMilwaukee.com)

Tuesday, August 21: Evanescence at The Rave, 5 p.m. ($37-47)
Little Rock, Ark.’s premiere female-fronted nu metal band, Evanescence, has been rocking since 1995. But the band wasn’t a household name until 2003 breakout hit, “Bring Me To Life,” dominated radio waves. The nine subsequent years and three follow-up albums have failed to match the success of the seven-times platinum major label debut. Yet frontwoman Amy Lee and company are keeping at it. Chevelle, Halestorm and New Medicine open. (2401 W. Wisconsin Ave., TheRave.com)

Wednesday, August 22: All-American Rejects and Eve 6 at Potawatomi’s Northern Lights Theater, 8 p.m. ($20-35)
Speaking of bands that blew up 10 years ago, this casino show brings about a pairing of some alt-rock heavy-hitters of the 21st century’s first years. Headlined by “Move Along” and “Swing, Swing” troubadours, the hit single-factory that is The All-American Rejects, this mid-week evening of not-so-far-removed nostalgia also boasts Eve 6, who reunited in 2007 following a three-year hiatus. (1721 W. Canal St., PaysBig.com)

Thursday, August 23: Sat. Nite Duets at Riverwest Public House, 9 p.m. ($5)
If you’re not yet hip to Milwaukee’s native sons, Sat. Nite Duets, from our near-weekly mentions of the band in our round-ups or profiles, it’s time you took a listen. The rowdy, Four-Loko swilling youngsters are on course to add to the band’s already-impressive resume in Milwaukee and beyond. Don’t be late to the party. Cat Ries, Origami Ghosts and Adam Lempei open. (815 E. Locust St., RiverwestPublicHouse.WordPress.com)

Also: Milwaukee Noise Fest at Borg Ward Collective, 6 p.m. ($10) – (823 W. National Ave.)

And: Wolfgang Schaefer, Graham Weber and Allen Cote at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn, 9 p.m. – (1001 E. Locust St., Linnemans.com)

Friday, August 24: Murder By Death at Turner Hall, 7 p.m. ($13)
Indiana indie rockers Murder By Death started out as Little Joe Gould, but changed its name and, to a lesser extent, its sound in the dozen years span between. The now-alt country outfit has shared the stage with such indie royalty as Cursive, Thursday, Interpol and The Weakerthans. The band’s aggressive tour schedule and consistently improving catalog finds the 12-year-old at arguably its best. Ha Ha Tonka and newly-signed Milwaukee band Trapper Schoepp & The Shades open. (1032 N. 4th St., PabstTheater.org)

Also: Oh My God and Wisconsin Beef Commission at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn, 9:30 p.m. – (1001 E. Locust St., Linnemans.com)

Saturday, August 25: Gotye at Riverside Theater, 7 p.m. ($39.50-59.50)
Exactly how much success can a man possibly find with just one song? You could ask whoever that guy was who wrote “I’m Too Sexy,” but since he’s probably dead, you’ll just have to ask Wouter De Backer (better known as “Gotye”) what it’s like to do so much with so little. The Aussie actually has three studio albums to his credit, but the world seems to know him as that guy who sings the dude parts on “Somebody That I Used To Know.” Who knows, maybe his other songs are criminally catchy too. Missy Higgins and Jonti open. (116 W. Wisconsin Ave., PabstTheater.org)

Also: Sugar Stems and Pilot Airer at Up & Under Pub, 9 p.m. – (1216 E. Brady St., TheUpAndUnderPub.com)

MUSIC NOTES SHOW OF THE WEEK
Sunday, August 26: Meat Loaf at Riverside Theater, 7 p.m. ($49.50-65.50)
With a voice as large as his frame and as baffling as his movie credits, Marvin Aday, aka Meat Loaf, is also a great example of a man who’s found longevity via a small batch of memorable songs. Carried by hits like “I’d Do Anything For Love” and “Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad,” Meat Loaf’s Bat Out Of Hell trilogy has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide and has kept the corpulent crooner a household name for over three decades. Don’t sleep on this show, baby, baby. (116 W. Wisconsin Ave., PabstTheater.org)
