Fashion Week.Early to rise, I got my act together and took it to Lincoln Center via Central Park. My hotel is only a few blocks away, and it was just grand to see people and the city awakening and going about morning routines. On my approach to LC, I was struck by how calm the scene there was compared to Bryant Park. Once inside, the Fashion Week banners.impressive set up had me realizing that Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week had truly entered the “wired” age. I scanned my invitation at one of four kiosks in the enormous modern lobby, and it spat out a receipt with my seat assignment for the first show, Nicholas K. Standing room is not as bad as one would think, and I chatted away with a columnist from Miami and a wonderful gal from Atlanta who has been covering these things since the ’70s. Once inside, we immediately filled empty seats. I went to the third row, and my “friends” disappeared to points unknown. I’m sure I’ll see them again during this weeklong love letter to the world of fashion. I took it a little easy today, canceled a couple shows that I wasn’t that in to and concentrated on the few that I was. I went back to my pad, organized my time and took a nap to prepare for the gauntlet that will be the rest of the weekend.
