Score another one for Walker’s Point. All Purpose (or AP”), the new restaurant from Crazy Water owner, Peggy Magister, is almost ready to strut its stuff. It’s officially opening this Wednesday, Aug. 7. Magister – partnering up with her nephew Justin Anthony – turned around the old Fritz’s Pub across the street (814 S. Second St., 414-672-6000), giving it a modern-contemporary cocktail bar/restaurant feel. Crazy Water is at 839 S. Second St. Magister hired former Chicagoan Daniel Pope to crank out the menu (bar snacks and small and large plates) and run the kitchen. The space is a bit larger than CW (with seating for 70). The 40-foot-long bar has been paired up with 16 stools. Four types of raw oysters will be available daily. Bar snacks include: fried sweetbreads, Thai meatballs with coconut curry, and fried catfish with malt vinegar. A few examples of small plates: fried chicken with soy-ginger vinaigrette; fried green tomatoes with pork belly, sunny-side up egg and hollandaise sauce; and beef cheeks goulash. Large plates: skate wing with celery root puree, rapini and currant gastrique, braised lamb shoulder with tagliatelle and braised mustard greens; and NY strip with pommes frites and green bean casserole. The menu also has a handful of salads, a couple of soups, and desserts like chocolate bread pudding with miso-butterscotch sauce and butterscotch gelato. Anthony is running the front of the house and the bar program. Look for craft cocktails as well as wine and beer. Prices: bar snacks $8, small plates $8-$12; large plates $16-market price. Hours: Tues-Sun 5 p.m.-midnight. The exterior makes it look like it’s on the down-low — no signage yet.
