10 Beer Events Brewing in Milwaukee This Week: March 1-6

Mardi Gras, beer releases, brewery yoga and the kickoff of Women’s Month are all on the schedule for this week.

Tuesday, March 1

Celebrate Mardi Gras at The Brass Tap (7808 W. Layton Ave.). Abita Brewing will have five beers on tap and the bar is making hurricanes. Proceed with caution.

Thursday, March 3

Bumper Shuffle League kicks off at Dead Bird Brewing (1726 N. 5th St.). Games start at 6 p.m. Send Dead Bird an email to sign up.

Friday, March 4

This weekend, 1840 Brewing Company (342 E. Ward St.) has pair of bottle releases. Both Dad’s Home Kölsch and Spittin’ Seedz Sunflower Altbier, a collab with Michigan’s Seedz Brewing, are available for presale at 9 a.m. Bottle release is at 3 p.m. As usual, both beers will be on tap on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Folks from ESPN Milwaukee, including local legend Steve “The Homer” True, are stepping behind the bar at Broken Bat Brewing (135 E. Pittsburgh Ave.) from 7 to 10 p.m. The charity bartending night benefits The Miracle League of Milwaukee. All tips and 20% of the proceeds go to the cause.

The first Friday of the month means that it’s Gallery Night at Gathering Place Brewing Company (811 E. Vienna Ave.) from 5 to 10 p.m. Illustrator and author Sheri Roloff will be there with some of her work.

If you work in the beer industry your first beer is free from 3 to 5 p.m. at New Barons Brewing Co-op (2018 S. 1st St.).

Saturday, March 5

Brewery yoga comes to Central Waters Milwaukee (1037 W. Juneau Ave.) from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The $25 price includes a 60-minute session and a beverage at the end of the workout.

Enlightened Brewing (2020 S. Allis St.) has three new Rough Draught Series beers being released. The juicy IPAs are Troposphere, fermented with Cosmic Punch and dry-hopped with Galaxy hops; Mesosphere, fermented with Cosmic Punch and dry-hopped with Galaxy and Falconer’s Flight hops; and Exosphere, fermented with Cosmic Punch and dry-hopped with Galaxy, Falconer’s Flight, Huell Melon and Motueka hops. Meat & Co. will be there to provide a base.

Sunday, March 6

The Women’s Month Kickoff Party is at New Baron’s Brewing Co-op is from 1 to 6 p.m. One dollar for every beer sold benefits the Sojourner Truth House. It’s the first of many beer events in March put together by a group of five women who are sales reps for breweries in the Midwest.

Faklandia Brewing (3807 S. Packard Ave.) hosts brewery yoga from 10 to 11 a.m. Cost is $25 and includes a post-workout beverage.
