Don’t Miss These 3 New Things in November

Don’t Miss These 3 New Things in November

Here’s some of our must check out picks for November, right from our arts & culture editor.

1. Listen to Backbone

Allison Mahal wields her affecting voice, with a quaver that points to her time in Nashville, through tender, sun-washed songs about moving forward. The EP is out now, with standout track “The Knife,” and Mahal will perform at Cactus Club on Nov. 13.

2. Read Some Things Don’t Burn

The Bugle American was one of the leading alt-weeklies of 1970s Milwaukee before its offices were firebombed. Aurore Sibley – whose parents met at the paper – digs into its history and the arson case that remains unsolved. It’s out Nov. 10.

Celebrate this year’s winners of the Betty Awards!
