Zócalo’s Newly Remodeled Indoor Bar Is a Colorful Oasis

The food truck park’s indoor bar gives winter visitors a bright place to drink and relax.

This month, we’ll start climbing out of the hole that is winter. Here in Wisconsin we’re good at creating spaces that lift us out of our frozen milieu. Case in point: Zócalo Food Park (636 S. Sixth St.): While it’s more frequently associated with its diverse mobile food vendors, it also has a very cozy indoor bar.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

You may feel restored as you walk into this comfy, nook-filled tavern splashed with rich, vibrant strokes of color. In fact, Zócalo co-founder Jesus Gonzalez says a recent bar remodel was inspired by artist Frida Kahlo’s Mexico City home, whose cobalt walls gave it the nickname The Blue House.
