This week’s This Bites (on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee) is more personal than our typical podcasts. As Tarik and I record our episodes from our respective homes, we talk about how we’re dealing with this time of self-isolation. Not surprisingly, we’re both spending more time than usual in the kitchen cooking and baking. Tarik talks about the Korean dishes he’s been cooking and I talk about my baking. If you don’t like to bake from scratch and don’t have the resources, I tell you about some baking kits you can order and support local bakeries at the same time.
To Christians, this is holy week, and many people will be looking for a fish fry on this Good Friday. We have a list of places offering fish fries on our website. Tarik and I also talk about Lakefront Brewery, which is also back offering Friday fish fries and is planning to offer its daily menu for “grab N go,” but also expecting that customers maintain the social distance of 6 feet from one another. We’ll update you on that.
Tarik talks a bit about what where he is shopping for hard-to-find Asian cooking ingredients. And that leads us into our newest segments – the cookbook and cocktail recipes of the week. Tarik and I share the cookbooks in our own collections that we’re rediscovering, as well as the cocktails we’re making at home. And we’re asking listeners to submit their favorite cookbooks and recipes and we’ll share them on our show.
