This Bites on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee is, as usual, chomping on the bit to share some new culinary info.
Tarik Moody and I kick off this week’s podcast with the new Hacienda Beer Co. on the East Side (2018 W. North Ave.), which just opened across the street from Crossroads Collective food fall. Hacienda, created by the owners of Door County Brewing Co. in Bailey’s Harbor, focuses on modern, experimental beers and its new MKE taproom, as you’ll read in this Mil Mag “first look,” matches that overall theme.
We also spend a little time talking through the food menu (served at lunch and dinner), which includes duck confit empanadas, black garlic BBQ fried chicken, an heirloom tomato bowl with quinoa pilaf and mozzarella balls, and a house grass-fed burger with green chimichurri and spiced bacon.
The main image in this post is of Kopp’s Custard, whose Special sundae is one of the cold, creamy delights profiled in 8 of the Best Frozen Treats, a story that appears in our June City Guide. Others include Pete’s Pops and the mangonada, a Mexican delicacy available at La Michoacana on South 16th Street.
