We start with a little promo of “Chef of the Year,” the March cover story for Milwaukee Magazine.
Sanford chef-owner Justin Aprahamian is the magazine’s very first Chef of the Year, and Tarik and I discuss how Aprahamian earned the title and a few of the more surprising things I learned about him when I was researching the story.
Among the Sanford owner’s achievements is picking up the Best Chef: Midwest award from the James Beard Association in 2014. In late February, the Beard Foundation announced the semifinalists for the 2019 awards, and Tarik and I talk through some of those nominees, which include several Milwaukee names. A few of them (like Bryant’s Cocktail Lounge) are first-time nominees. Such a fascinating topic, and we’ll revisit it when the finalists are announced on March 27.
