The Best Things to Do in Milwaukee This April

Get your head in the game with the Brewers, pinball and more.

1.

Flashback to the ’60s, ’70s or ’80s

MULTIPLE DATES | MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

Miss Lava Lamps and bell bottoms? Relive the ’60s with Ain’t Too Proud, a Broadway show that pays tribute to R&B luminaries The Temptations running April 5-10 (marcuscenter.org). If the ’70s are more your groove, Elton John will be in town for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour on April 2 (fiservforum.com). Or rock out like you did in the ’80s for a Bon Jovi concert on April 5 (fiservforum.com).

2.

Easter Egg Hunt

APRIL 9 & APRIL 16 | MILWAUKEE COUNTY ZOO

It’s not just for kids this year. The adult iteration includes cocktails and will storm Lake Park on April 9
(bit.ly/lakeparkeggs). For families, check out Egg Day at the Milwaukee County Zoo on April 16 (milwaukeezoo.org).

414 Day

APRIL 14 | MILWAUKEE-WIDE CITY CELEBRATION

It’s the best day of the year! At least, it is for Milwaukeeans. What started as an offhand internet comment about April 14 resembling MKE’s area code has grown into an official Wisconsin state holiday complete with a citywide party that celebrates local businesses, artists and people. milwaukeeday.com

Brewers Game

ALL SEASON | AMERICAN FAMILY FIELD

A pre-season lockout had us worried for April baseball, but Bernie Brewer and the rest of the Brew Crew will indeed be back in action this month. The season heats up fast, too, with two home rivalry series against the Cardinals (April 14-17, the first games at American Family Field) and Cubs (April 29-May 1). Bring the cooler and grill to make up for last year’s shortened tailgate season. Claws up! mlb.com/brewers

Brickworld Milwaukee

APRIL 23-24 | WISCONSIN STATE FAIR PARK PRODUCTS PAVILLION

Go to be inspired by feats in LEGO construction, and stay to build your own masterpiece (or at least contribute to the graffiti wall). There will be 32,000 square feet of these creations – that’s bigger than the Milwaukee Public Market – and a chance to meet the artists who made them at the Wisconsin State Fair Park Products Pavilion April 23-24. brickworld.com

Midwest Gaming Classic

APRIL 29-MAY 1 | WISCONSIN CENTER

Every year, hundreds of people – often dressed as video game characters – pack the Wisconsin Center to celebrate gaming in all its forms. This year’s event (April 29-May 1) will have everything from modern consoles to old-fashioned arcade games, including our favorite, pinball! midwestgamingclassic.com

Tyrannosaurs: Meet the Family

ALL MONTH | MILWAUKEE PUBLIC MUSEUM

Get to know the family tree of 10 life-sized dinosaurs – including a massive T. rex – along with a collection of fossils. This exhibit at the Milwaukee Public Museum includes a virtual reality experience so you can practice “running for your life” when the dinos take over Milwaukee. mpm.edu
