Stone Creek Coffee’s Downer Location and New Food Menu

D-day is set for May 25. Think coffee, patio and Liege-style waffles!

Stone Creek Coffee’s Downer location (2650 N.) has all the signs of being very cool ‒ its debut is set for Friday, May 25. The cafe features an indoor/outdoor patio that will visually transform the corner of Downer and Park Place.

This location will also be one of only two Stone Creeks that introduce the cafe’s new menu initiative, Project EAT. “EAT” stands for Elegant, Accessible and Transparent ‒ and that defines the theme of the menu. Homemade yogurt, Liege-style waffles and egg-based sandwiches are the main categories. Customers can top the yogurt with scratch-made syrups, fresh fruit, homemade preserves, nuts and granola. An egg sandwich could come topped with, among other things, smashed avocado, charred scallion, pickled jalapeno and sriracha mayo on a brioche bun made at Stone Creek Bakery.

The Liege waffles have a beautiful richness and crispy texture (from the addition of Belgian pearl sugar). They will be available sweet or savory, as in one topped with coffee butter and house-cured bacon.

Project EAT will roll out at the Downer location first, then the Factory Cafe (422 N. Fifth St.) in mid- to late summer.
