Anne Sprecher provided a little more information about the 30th anniversary beer that Sprecher Brewery has in the works. The brew is a Belgian Quad that will be packaged sometime in August. I’m guessing that it will be pretty special, so I’ll let you know the release date when Sprecher does. The 30th anniversary party takes place on August 28 and 29 at Juneau Park (801 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive) and features two days of great music and Sprecher beer.
The Axeman Cometh
Good news IPA fans, Surly is going to start canning Todd the Axe Man this week. The West Coast IPA is highly regarded and until now not all that easy to find. Todd is a blend of Citra and Mosaic hops, my two favorites, so I’m excited to try it. Surly Brewing is a nice addition to the beer scene in Milwaukee, and adding Todd the Axe Man to store shelves makes their presence even better.
Barley Pop of the Week
In a rare move, I’m choosing a beer that I’ve never tried as the beer of the week. My birthday was last week and a friend gave me a fine present—a bottle of the rare Cigar City Hunahpu Imperial Stout. A shout out to Kevin for the gift, and I can’t wait to let you know how good it is.

Spectra Trifecta, the latest entry in the Founders ArtPrize Series, will start limited release on September 13. The beer is a Kolsch with chamomile, lemongrass and ginger. Sounds refreshing.
