Proud Quaffing

A review en miniature of Drink Wisconsinbly.

WISCONSIN-AS-NOVELTY has been the rage for the last handful of years (see: the growing Camp Bar empire), and so far Milwaukeeans have played along. But DRINK WISCONSINBLY (135 E. National Ave.), located in the former heavily renovated Blue Jacket digs, makes the trend meta: a bar and restaurant that celebrates how often we go to bars, so much so that its name recalls slurred drunk-speak. The theme is unabashedly unsubtle, as is the case in a delightful old fashioned topped with a cheese curd. What needs no embellishment is the respectable Wisconsin-only beer and cider list, where you can find MobCraft’s Hop Gose the Grapefruit, and selections from Potosi, Ale Asylum, Furthermore and Karben4 in addition to Milwaukee’s craft standards.
