What we’re reading:

  • One economist would kindly like presidential candidates (and the rest of us) to stop hoping for gobs of manufacturing jobs to make a comeback in the U.S.
  • Not enough Wisconsin schools and day care centers are testing their drinking water for lead, reports Fox 6.
  • There aren’t enough psychiatrists in the country, and the shortage is especially “severe” in Wisconsin’s Northwoods. The Medical College of Wisconsin is hoping to change that.
  • These 17 card-carrying members of the animal kingdom are close to extinction, says TIME.
  • Presidential candidate Donald Trump will speak to the National Rifle Association today about his thoughts on gun ownership.
