Nō Studios – a local arts group founded by Academy Award-winning screenwriter John Ridley – is opening a rooftop bar. Skyline Bar + Lounge will be on the top floor of Nō Studios (1037 W. McKinley Avenue) in the Brewery District. From the bar, you’ll be able to see a 360-degree view of the Milwaukee skyline, hence the name.
There will be two outdoor rooftop patios and a glass-enclosed bar and lounge with unobstructed views of the city. The décor will include lounge couches, cocktail tables and professional lighting to “set the mood,” according to the news release
On the menu there is, of course, a full bar beverage selection, but the real highlight will be the curated sake offerings like sake flights and sake cocktails. Sake is a traditional Japanese beverage made from fermented rice. Ridley says he has often been influenced by East Asian culture. In fact, the word Nō, or 能, is the sino-Japanese word for skill or talent.

To introduce the “sake experience,” Skyline will be hosting a series of tastings, discussions and events in Milwaukee, and across the country. Radio Milwaukee’s Tarik Moody (who hosts This Bites with MilMag‘s Ann Chritenson) will be partnering with Nō Studios for these events. There will also be in-venue tastings on June 12 and July 10 at 6 p.m. (register here).
The bar will open on May 8, with hours Thursday through Saturday from 5-11 p.m. Members will have additional access Monday through Wednesday and Sunday from 8-10 p.m.; and Thursday through Saturday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
