The man who helped create Erin Hills, the golf course in Washington County where the U.S. Women’s Open will be held this spring, has plans for another destination golf development, Trinity Hills, this time in Lake Country.
But can 80-year-old Bob Lang, who nearly went bankrupt bringing Erin Hills to fruition, really make it happen?

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!
Lang’s proposal was reported breathlessly when it was announced in November: 281 acres dotted with eskers, kettles and lakes along the snaking Bark River south of Delafield. It would contain a “signature” oak woods and lots of bunkers, in a nod to the sand quarry bordering the property.
But as of mid-February, Lang hadn’t submitted a formal proposal to the village of Summit nor bought any of the property yet. Ironically, Lang once owned much of the Trinity Hills land but had to sell it during his financial struggles tied to Erin Hills.
“It could be a great golf course. It’s a beautiful piece of land with a lot of character and wonderful terrain,” says Gary D’Amato, senior writer at Wisconsin.Golf. “But Bob’s talking about a $40 million project, and he just doesn’t have the money right now.”
Lang, who says he’s working to attract investors, speaks with supreme confidence about the proposal: “Trinity Hills will become a reality. I’m going to build the best golf and hospitality destination in Wisconsin and beyond.”
