Indulgence Chocolatiers’ Valentine’s Day Truffles Are Here

Indulgence Chocolatiers’ Valentine’s Day Truffles Are Here

And our Dining Editor reviewed them.

Chocolate’s association with Valentine’s Day goes back at least to 1868, when British chocolatier Richard Cadbury packaged his creations in a heart-shaped box made expressly for this feast day for romantics. Modern makers of confectionery like our own Indulgence Chocolatiers don’t need the two-curved red box to signify love.

The confections speak for themselves, and this year, the offerings include a six-truffle Valentine’s box (including a peppermint mocha truffle infused with espresso from MKE’s Valentine Coffee), hand-painted milk- and dark-chocolate hearts, and a peppermint hot cocoa mix made for two.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

Luckily, I was able to get my hands on a box. They’re all luscious – it’s very hard to pick a favorite of the six flavors, but I think it’s got to be the heart-shaped pistachio Chambord! Here are my impressions:

Strawberry Champagne (round shape, half pink and half brown): A delicate berry flavor, very smooth with subtle floral

Vanilla Bean Caramel with Speculoos (red crescent moon shape with silver splatter): Crispy, buttery and also gives Red Hot (cinnamon candy) vibes.

Peppermint Mocha (round shape, with red and white splatter): Peppermint Pattie in front, espresso in back. Seriously, like a high-end Peppermint Pattie truffle with an echo of espresso.

Ginger Passionfruit Caramel (square shape, with red and pink hearts): Juicy, fruity, refreshing and very spring-like!

Pistachio Chambord (pink heart with purple and green splatter): Complex but well-balanced. Dense, rich consistency, with a bit of nutty crunch.

Raspberry Molasses Pecan Praline (“juicer” shape with multi-color splatter): Nutty and roasty, crunchy and fudgy, with a deep, smoky hit from the molasses.
