To finish off the 25th summer of Jazz in the Park, the Milwaukee-native Charles Walker Band will bring it home with their "Neo-Funk" jams.

East Town’s Jazz in the Park celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2016 and Milwaukee Magazine is partnering with the iconic Downtown Milwaukee event for all sorts of giveaways and other goodies throughout the summer!

Closing out the Jazz in the Park season will be Milwaukee’s own Charles Walker Band on the first day of September. You may have seen this band play on TMJ4’s The Morning Blend earlier this year. Even if you missed that TV spot, the Charles Walker Band is sure to be a great show for anyone who likes to get down. A little less jazzy than the many of Jazz in the Park’s acts, the Charles Walker Band plays a mix of funk, R&B and soul, a genre that they call “Neo-Funk”.

Porsche Carmon’s lead singing is sure to catch an ear or two as she tests the limits of her own talents with long runs and notes up-and-down the scale. You don’t need to have come every week this summer to enjoy Jazz in the Park, and the Charles Walker Band is as good a group to start with as any.

Check out the music video for “Soul Deep” below for one of their more risqué numbers.

Find out more about the band and listen to a selection of songs at www.walkerband.com or catch them live across the Midwest and along the East Coast this summer.

We’ll see you next year for the 26th annual Jazz in the Park season!
