Beer Events Brewing This Week: Jan. 9-12

A couple of chances to sip on Founders CBS should make it a good week.

Tuesday, Jan. 9

Beer School at Comet Café (1947 N. Farwell Ave.) pours porters and stouts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.

Landmark 1850 (5905 S. Howell Ave.) hosts a tap takeover by Founders Brewing at 4 p.m. The menu includes CBS Barrel-Aged Stout. But wait, there’s more. Landmark is also tapping an AleSmith Hawaiian Speedway Stout at 4 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 10

Founders makes the trek from Grand Rapids to take over the taps at Ray’s Growler Gallery (8930 W. North Ave.). Sip on KBS and CBS while scarfing down flapjacks. It’s true, they’re on the menu.

It’s cold outside and that makes the timing of Milwaukee Beer Society’s tasting of imperial stouts ideal. Try some of the big, dark beers at Best Place (901 W. Juneau Ave.) starting at 6 p.m. Cost is $15, plus a one-time $10 membership fee.

Thursday, Jan. 11

Third Space Brewing is bringing some big beers to Sugar Maple (441 E. Lincoln Ave.) during the Barrel-Aged Nexus Tap Takeover. Try varieties of Liquid Layers Barleywine, Haunted Barrel Porter and, of course, Nexus of the Universe Imperial Stout. Get there at 6 p.m. to start sipping.

Bavarian Bierhaus is the highlighted brewery at this installment of Boerner Brewtanical Series at the Boerner Botanical Gardens (9400 Boerner Dr.) starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Friday, Jan. 12

Wash down the weekly fish fry at MOTOR (400 W. Canal St.) with a beer from WarPigs Brewing. The all-you-can-eat event runs from 5 to 8 p.m.

Sample tasty brews from Raised Grain at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) including the award-winning Paradocs Imperial Red Ale from 3 to 6 p.m.
