Beer Events Brewing This Week: Feb. 6-9

Good City Brewing and 1840 Brewing both have limited releases slated during a busy week of beer-related events.

Wednesday, Feb. 6

The Milwaukee Beer Society takes a trip to City Lights Brewing (2200 W. Mt. Vernon Ave.) from 6 to 9 p.m. Learn from Dr. David Ryder, the brewery’s chief innovation officer.

Ray’s Growler Gallery (8930 W. North Ave.) attempts to cash a keg a Third Space Happy Place faster than any keg in the gallery’s history. That requires you. Get there around 6 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. tapping. The keg needs to be empty in less than 20 minutes, 42 seconds. No pressure. After the record falls, Third Space is bringing a few other standout barrels to celebrate with, including a couple of barrel-aged options.

Barley to Barrel, Milwaukee’s brewery incubator, hosts its latest release party at Draft & Vessel (4417 N. Oakland Ave.) at 6 p.m. The new brews include 1457 Scottish Heavy, Dolce Moto Imperial Milk Stout, Grumpy Bulldog British Strong Ale and The Rebel Beist Norwegian Dark Ale.

Beer School at Palomino (2491 S. Superior St.) runs from 7 to 9 p.m. The topic is Milwaukee’s growing beer scene, and for $20 you can learn and sample a few beers.

Thursday, Feb. 7

Uber Tap Room (1048 N. Old World Third St.) hosts another of its grilled cheese and beer tastings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For just $20 you can pair four beers with amazing grilled cheese sandwiches.

MKE Beer Tasting, a casual group of craft beer fans, has its first meet up at Black Husky Brewing (909 E. Locust St.) from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Gathering Place Brewing (811 E. Vienna Ave.) kicks off its first $1 for Milwaukee event. One buck from every beer purchased (priced $6 or more) benefits Public Allies Milwaukee. Each Thursday, Gathering Place will feature a nonprofit to donate to. Cheers to founder Joe Yeado for giving back.

Friday, Feb. 8

1840 Brewing (342 E. Ward St.) taps a variant of its The Cashmere Sweater IPA made with hop hash, which consists of powerful concentrated hop chunks. Draft is available from 3 to 10 p.m. on Friday and bottles are available Saturday (11 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and Sunday (noon to 8 p.m.).

Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) hands out samples from Good City Brewing from 4 to 7 p.m.

Try samples from Indeed Brewing at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) from 3 to 6 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 9

Good City Brewing (2108 N. Farwell Ave.) is releasing its bourbon barrel-aged BFG Barleywine at 11 a.m. Get there early to get one of just 200 available bottles. Good City is also tapping a Smoked Baltic Porter as further incentive to be there.

Untapped Tours hosts another 3-1/2 hour Riverwest Brewery Tour this weekend. The fun starts at 1:15 p.m. at Company Brewing (735 E. Center St.), heads to Lakefront Brewery (1872 N. Commerce St.), Gathering Place Brewing (811 E. Vienna Ave.), Black Husky Brewing (909 E. Locust St.) and back to Company Brewing. For $55 you get two small pours at each stop, a tour of each brewery, and a ride.

Indeed Brewing comes to Discount Liquor Milwaukee from 4 to 7 p.m.
