Art’s Many Forms

Local musicians and artists come together for a big night at Turner Hall Ballroom.

With absolutely no warning, the Pabst Group dropped this nugget into our inbox this morning: On November 24, Turner Hall will host an event called Colors & Chords in which seven local acts- excuse me, seven local, huge acts, will pair up with seven local artists to create original works.

The musicians include Nineteen Thirteen, Argopelter (featuring Field Report’s Chris Porterfield ), Testa Rosa (whose new album Testa Rosa III came out in August), Jon Mueller and Chris Roseneau of Volcano Choir, Light Music, Marielle Allschwang of Group of Altos, and Panalure.

According to the release, the bands will play 20 minute sets, during which the artists (Pamela Anderson, whom we mentioned last month in our profile of her husband’s company Infrastructure Canvas; Melissa Dorn Richards; Jeff Redmon; Cynthia Thomas; James Carlson; and John Kowalczyk) will create works based on the music. To top it off, it’s all for a good cause. The art-filled concert benefits one of our 2015 Reasons to Love Milwaukee,” Islands of Brilliance.
