Cabin
fever got you down? Winter Fest is the best way to have some fun this winter,
without freezing your bum off. This family-friendly event will take over the Delta
Center from December 26-31. “This is actually a Milwaukee-specific event and, in its second
year, it’s even bigger with a lot more décor,” says Cheryl McShane, event
organizer and president of Professional Events & Consulting.
Even
adults will feel like a kid in a candy shop with enough crazy activities to
keep you on a winter-high all day. Get ready for sensory overload with an indoor zip line, giant slide, roller
rink, radar snowball pitch, a Velcro wall, wrecking ball competition, a driving
range and a tilt-a-whirl. There is
definitely something for everyone with a full 200,000-square feet of activities
and displays. Because that’s a lot of ground to tackle, Cheryl and her team
have set up six different zones to cater to all different age groups:
The Journal Sentinel South Pole Adventure Zone: (Kids 6-12) Games and rides for the thrill seekers like a
holiday bungee run, a Velcro wall, tilt-a-whirl and a rock wall.
Igloo Island: (Age
5 and under) Keep the little ones busy with art and games like a coloring mural, a tot obstacle and a
grand-prix.
Metroparent Operation MOVE Zone: (All Ages) No matter your age, it’s always a good idea to
work off holiday indulgences with some physical activity. Members of the
Milwaukee Wave will be on hand with soccer demonstrations and you can test your
strength and speed at the radar snowball pitch.
North Pole Adventure Zone:
(All Ages) Carnival rides and a giant snow globe…enough said!
Peppermint Lane:
(All Ages) For the crafty ones in the bunch, this area features ornament
making, face painting, picture frame making, airbrush/henna tattoos and more.

Holiday Village:
(All Ages) Hop the train through the “green” village made from local repurposed
and reused products see a traditional Christmas scene.
Seeking
solace from the action? Head for the Polar
Café to relax and connect with free Wifi. This is an adult-only zone.
McShane says you won’t want to miss the Plymouth
Foam EPS Sculpting Competition December 27-30. Rather than worrying about
melting snow, six local artists will go head-to-head to carve out holiday-themed
displays using cushy insulating materials for a $1,000 grand prize. The winner
will be selected and announced December 30 at 5:30 p.m.
On Friday, Dec. 28, there
will be a “Milwaukee’s Got Talent” competition with local celebrity judges and
a six-hour recording studio session prize for the best vocalist. And for the kiddies – there will be a Radio Disney Family
Fun New Year’s Eve Celebration until 9:30 p.m.
Winterfest
hours are 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Dec. 26 and 30, 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. Dec. 28 and 29 and 10:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. on
Dec. 31.

$12 for children ages 3-17 and $8 for adults 18 years old and older, or pay $15
or $10, respectively, at the door.
