From pink crystal-studded baby bathtubs in New York to $500 Burberry baby jackets in Minnesota, some parents these days are going above and beyond to provide for their children. But apparently not in Milwaukee.

A report from Bundle.com, surveys found  families with a $100,000 annual income may spend more than half a million dollars on a child from the time they’re born until they’re 18. But not all cities are equal when it comes to baby spending. A comparison of major cities found Milwaukee parents spend 54 percent less than the U.S. average (Nashville).

The report also found Manhattan spends 90 percent above average. Many Midwest cities – including Madison – came in below the U.S. average while big cities like Miami and Brooklyn (the borough ranked second) were found to be big spenders.

Looks like Milwaukee children are far from being spoiled and won’t be seen in designer over-the-top strollers. Perhaps this has to do with that Midwestern friendliness we’re always hearing about.
