The Racine County District Attorney’s office has cleared the wife of State Rep. Robin Vos (R-Burlington) of accusations she committed voter fraud by voting earlier this year in Racine County while purportedly living in Idaho.

Democrats had seized on the possible violation as Vos has made his own allegations of voter fraud in the past, such as when he said that fraud had helped Democrat John Lehman to defeat incumbent State Sen. Van Wanggaard (R-Racine) in a recall election earlier this year.

The Racine Journal Times reports that a Northwoods Democrat, Roberta Retrum, a former candidate for state representative, drove five hours from Eagle River to Racine to lodge the complaint against Vos’ wife.

The DA’s office concluded: “Ms. Vos did not permanently vacate the State of Wisconsin. She was out of the state for temporary purposes with an intent to return. She did not vote in any other state did not register to vote in any other state, and in all other regards maintained her permanent residence in the State of Wisconsin.”

The investigation found Samantha Vos, who is legally separated from Robin, was staying temporarily with her parents and had planned all along to eventually return to Wisconsin and enroll in college.
