The Packers won in Lambeau against the Jets, the Brewers won the weekend series at Miller Park against the Reds, and Team USA crushed Serbia to win the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.   • That about does it for good news in the sports world, or at least in the NFL. Ray Rice is appealing his suspension, Adrian Peterson and Greg Hardy were held out of this weekend’s games, and despite this and much more, Commissioner Roger Goodell not only still has his job, but reportedly has the “100 percent support” of NFL owners.
  • A new coalition in the state is pushing for transportation spending with the state facing a $680 million shortfall in the transportation budget for 2015-17, reports the AP
  • The new building for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s School of Freshwater Sciences opened this weekend. WUWM has more
