When you’re done reading this, try picturing how Anchorman’s Ron Burgundy would report about himself, Ryan Braun and an all-night legislative session. Ryan Braun faced a postgame media mob last night and uttered barely a word about his Brewers ballclub’s 4-3 10-inning win over Oakland. That’s because all anybody wanted to talk about was an ESPN Outside The Lines report that Major League Baseball wants to suspend him over performance-enhancing drugs, possibly for 100 games. • Ryan Braun faced a postgame media mob last night and uttered barely a word about his Brewers ballclub’s 4-3 10-inning win over Oakland. That’s because all anybody wanted to talk about was an ESPN Outside The Lines report that Major League Baseball wants to suspend him over performance-enhancing drugs, possibly for 100 games. That’s not necessarily new – MLB has been after Braun for some time – but now a man named Tony Bosch is willing to cooperate with MLB’s investigation into Braun and some 20 other players. The upshot of Braun’s response, who has always maintained his innocence of any PED charges: “The truth has not changed.”
  • The Wisconsin Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee stayed up all night, but not to discuss the Braun story. Instead, it passed the Republican-backed budget focused on tax cuts by a 12-4 vote along party lines. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel also reports about some highlights of the measure, including decisions “to boot an investigative journalism center from the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, create a tax deduction for private school tuition and allow a private bail bond system in Milwaukee and four other counties.”
  • If tracking Milwaukee County buses is your thing, then some University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee students have just the mobile app for you. The Business Journal explains how they came up with it at their “App Brewery.” So cheers to all involved.
  • The Atlantic magazine sent a reporter to Milwaukee, specifically to take “a close look at Rockwell Automation,” as part of a story titled “This is the Way Blue Collar America Ends.” Hint: It’s not a fashion piece.
  • And the Washington Post reports how that city’s Newseum (yes, a museum about news) is preparing for the November debut of “Anchorman: The Exhibit.” It’s surely just a fortuitous marketing coincidence that December marks the cinematic debut of Will Ferrell’s sequel Anchorman: The Legend Continues.
